Scholarship-Public Power Juneau Electric Utility, along with our Power Provider, WPPI, offers a Public Power scholarship for local high school students. The $1,000 scholarship is presented to a high school senior who plans to attend a two-year technical college or a four-year university. Applicants are judged on a variety of criteria, including academic and extracurricular achievement, work and volunteer experience and future career goals. Juneau Utilities’ scholarship program is designed to provide educational opportunities for promising local students and to promote awareness of Juneau’s community-owned utility. To be eligible to apply, students or their parents or guardians must be customers of Juneau Utilities. Dependents of utility personnel are not eligible. The recipient of the 2008 Public Power Scholarship was Kyle Brady.
